Curated Ceramics is immensely proud to present several original studio pieces by ceramics master Marguerite Wildenhain (1896 – 1985). Each was made contemporary to her instruction at Pond Farm artist colony and acquired by one of her students. An important historical piece of American studio ceramics.Â
This sculptural tile, titled Trinacria, was inspired by the tragic earthquake of 1968 that devastated Sicily. 231 people died and upwards of 100,000 were left homeless. It is believed the figures on the tile represent homeless women as seen in widely publicized pictures in the day.Â
